Challenge
The new house is carefully placed respecting mature landscape and trees and orientated to maximise enjoyment from the site and beautiful distant views to the estuary. The house has enabled the residents formerly of the adjacent property to remain on a special site. Large areas of triple glazing afford high levels of natural light. Deep overhangs prevent overheating.
The new house is a lifetime home. The house achieved an A rated Energy Performance Certificate. The cladding of the building (zinc) is a highly sustainable material. Heating and mechanical ventilation heat recovery along with an air source heat pump provide a low energy solution to internal comfort. Photo voltaic panels discreetly placed on the garage complete the renewable energy approach. Local subcontractors, materials and labour have been sourced throughout the project. A high level of workmanship has been achieved.
